Not coming as a surprise to anyone, Blockbuster Video has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Blockbuster, the home video powerhouse that overwhelmed the US video rental market in the 80s and 90s, the former darling of Wayne Huizenga, basically rested on its laurels, and so got killed by a combination of online downloads, Netflix, and Redbox.
